Chelsea is still hopeful of completing a deal to bring Juventus left back Alex Sandro to Stamford Bridge. The Blues had their chances of success boosted by Juventus’ renewed interest in Nemanja Matic.
The Old Lady of Turin has returned to try and sign Nemanja Matic from the Blues, and the Premier League champions are willing to do a deal.
Juventus wanted to sign the Serbian last summer but Antonio Conte blocked his move as there was no adequate replacement for him at the time. But the imminent arrival of French midfielder, Tiemoue Bakayoko means Matic’s chances of regular football will undoubtedly be reduced.
Juventus interest has boosted Chelsea’s chances of signing Sandro. The Italians have quoted a world record £61 million to the Blues, but with Matic valued a £40 million by the Londoners, Chelsea is hopeful that a player plus cash deal involving only £21 million would see them sign Sandro.
Manchester United are still keen on Matic, but after Jose Mourinho piped them to the signing of Romelu Lukaku, the Blues are unlikely going to do business with the Red Devils this summer.
