Chelsea is becoming increasingly agitated at their manager, Antonio Conte’s continued delay in signing the new contract they have offered him.
The Italian is highly rated after winning the Premier League and reaching the FA Cup final in his first season in England. However, the Blues are struggling to tie him down to a new deal.
The Italian has been in negotiations with the Blues since April after he guided them to an impressive unbeaten run in the league, but he instructed his representatives to stop talking with the club at the time as he wanted to focus on the title run-in. After securing the league title, he is still yet to sign his new contract.
One reason there is fear around Stamford Bridge is the belief that Conte is very unhappy with the Blues’ transfer business so far, especially the loss of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United. Chelsea has signed Antonio Rudiger, and Tiemoue Bakayoko, but Lukaku was Conte’s priority signing after he informed Diego Costa that his services are no longer required.
Inter Milan were heavily linked with bringing Conte back to Italy last season, but they have since hired former AS Roma manager Luciano Spalleti.
