Barcelona are desperate to sign PSG’s Italian superstar Marco Verratti, according to goal.com. The hugely popular Italian’s long term future may be away from the French capital as he has ambitions of winning the UEFA Champions League.
The 24 year old is perceived as a like for like replacement for Xavi Hernandez who left camp Nou after the summer of 2015.
Verratti who was signed for a paltry sum of around £12 Million in 2012, is currently valued at £80 Million. He has featured heavily for the Paris club this season, starring in 32 games, scoring twice and assisting six.
Antonio Conte has been a huge admirer of the Italian, but knows that for any deal to be done bringing in the Italian, he would have to offload Cesc Fabregas. Fabregas has not been given enough opportunity to impress under the Italian, but has put in some good displays when called upon. However, the Italian prefers to play with N’golo Kante and Nemanja Matic in his midfield.
Despite Verratti’s claim over the weekend that he would welcome a move to a Serie A club sometime in the future, it is believed that if Chelsea make their interest firm, Antonio Conte can convince his country man that the English Premier League is a better alternative.
