Chelsea face stiff competition from Juventus in race to sign Serie A star

Juventus have entered the race to sign Chelsea’s long term target, Kostas Manolas. The Old Lady of Turin sees the Greek strong man as the perfect replacement for their AC Milan-bound defender Leonardo Bonucci.

In what could be the most twisted transfer story of the summer, the Blues have been very keen on signing Bonucci all summer, and have repeatedly been told off by Juventus. They even slapped a huge £60 million price tag on his head at one point. Chelsea pressed on, but finally gave up when it appeared like they truly did not want to let him go.

The Old Lady finally agreed to sell him after it appears the player’s relationship with his manager is unrepairable, and AC Milan has acted the fastest.

Chelsea had turned their attention to Roma’s Manolas. Despite signing his team mate Antonio Rudiger, it appears as though Antonio Conte was still interested in signing him.

Now Juventus appears a more likely destination for the defender whose move to Zenith Saint Petersburg collapsed at the very last minute.
