To stop their manager Antonio Conte from making excuses as to why he cannot successfully defend the Premier League title, Chelsea is set to sign three of the four signings the Italian has requested.
The Blues have spent over £130 million this summer, but that is not enough according to Conte, who has had to see fellow title rival Pep Guardiola spend over £200 million this summer to strengthen his squad at the Etihad.
Conte has signed Antonio Rudiger, Alvaro Morata, and Tiemoue Bakayoko, but he wants more. The Italian manager has told the Blues that he wants a new central midfielder, wing back, attacking midfielder, and a centre forward.
His personal targets are Renato Sanches, Alex Sandro, Antonio Candreva, and Fernando Llorente, and he is set to get three of these players.
The club’s board have promised to do their best to get him all his targets, but it is believed they would be able to afford only three this summer.
Conte has spoken about his fear of going the way of Jose Mourinho and Claudio Ranieri, who both got sacked after winning the league title the previous season.
