Chelsea given all to make move and sign up £44 million man

Chelsea have been given the all clear to sign up Atletico Madrid star Koke, as Barcelona are unwilling to splash the £44m needed to activate his clause.

The Catalan giants are under a transfer embargo having been found guilty of breaching Fifa’s rules on the transfer of players aged under 18.

They are therefore not able to make any signings until January 2016, however it does not strictly prohibit officials from showing interest in a player, or verbally agreeing a deal in principal.

It’s believed they would rather pay the extra £16m needed to sign French international Paul Pogba, who is viewed as a far more appealing target.
