Chelsea outcast Diego Costa is edging closer to a move to his beloved Atletico Madrid after the Spaniard’s made a final offer for his signature.
Costa has been out in the cold since the Blues manager Antonio Conte axed him from his team via text message. The Brazilian had offers from a lot of top European sides but decided he was only going to join Atletico Madrid. However, the two clubs have been struggling to agree on a fee all summer with the Blues holding out for in excess of £60 million.
The Spaniard had hoped to take advantage of his strained relationship with the Blues to get a cut-price deal over the line, but the Blues have stood their ground so far.
Talksport is reporting that the Spaniards have made a final offer totaling £58 million for the attacker. They would pay £49 million now with the rest to follow in performance-related add-ons.
Costa has remained AWOL after refusing to follow the club’s order and return to London. He lacks match fitness and he is also desperate for some professional training as he hopes to get fit for next year’s world cup in Russia.
