Chelsea is ahead of Manchester United in the battle for the signature of Real Madrid’s Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez, according to Spanish sources.
James Rodriguez is looking for a new challenge at a club that would offer him first team opportunities, after falling down the pecking order at Real Madrid. Zinedine Zidane considers, Isco, Marco Assensio, and Lucas Vazquez ahead of Rodriguez in the Real Madrid first team.
Another report this week claimed that Marcelo and Christiano Ronaldo have attempted to convince Rodriguez to remain at the Bernabeu for at least one more season, but it seems the Colombian have made up his mind that his future is elsewhere.
Super agent Jorge Mendes have begun plans to look for a new team for his client and the Premier League duo of Chelsea and Manchester United seem to be the most interested parties.
Chelsea is said to be front-runners, however, now that United have qualified for the Champions League, that may well change.
