Chelsea has begun plans to improve their squad ahead of competing in Europe next season. The Blues who are on course to win the Premier League and FA Cup double this season, have identified some key positions in their squad that needs strengthening, among them is their midfield.
Antonio Conte used the ball retaining duo of Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante for Chelsea this season but knows that with European football next season, there is a need for tactical flexibility that is why he is set to swoop for PSG’s Marco Verratti.
The Italian midfielder has been in fine form since signing for the former French champions and he is currently happy in Paris.
However, media reports that PSG are willing to listen to offers for his signature and would consider any bid in the region of £60 million.
Antonio Conte believes the player is worth a little less at £55 million. However, Verratti seems harder to convince despite PSG having a very bad season this year.
He signed a 5-year deal at the club last summer but would need more clarifications on the club’s owner’s plans before making a final decision on his future.
