In their bid to make a statement after losing out on the signing of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, Chelsea has reportedly submitted a £88 million bid for Juventus attacker Gonzalo Higuain.
The Blues embarrassingly missed out on the signing of former Everton attacker Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United last Monday, despite being favourites to land him all summer.
According to Italian sources, Blues manager Antonio Conte is still angry with the club’s hierarchy, and may not sign a new deal. In their bid to convince him that they plan to remain competitive, they have made the astonishing offer to Juventus for the signing of Higuain.
Higuain joined Juventus last summer for a record £75 million making him the fourth most expensive footballer of all time, he went on to score 32 goals in 55 matches, helping the Old Lady to the Serie A and Coppa Italia title, as well as reaching the Champions league final for the second time in three years.
However, Juventus president, Beppe Marotta, rejected the Blues offer immediately as he looks to keep hold of one of his team’s best players
