It has been reported in the media lately that Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United have all been chasing highly-regarded Udinese defender Mehdi Benatia, as they looked to bring him in this coming transfer window. But the player is set to snub all three clubs and stay where he is.
The 25-year-old joined Udinese in 2010 from French side Clermont and has impressed with a series of strong performances ever since.
Manchester United have struggled defensively this season and have lacked options with Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones missing sustained periods through injury, while Tottenham will be keen to recruit a new centre-half should Michael Dawson make the suspected switch to join former boss Harry Redknapp at QPR.
Chelsea, meanwhile, has seen captain John Terry sidelined with an ongoing knee injury, leaving the Blues with little cover for Gary Cahill and David Luiz. (Metro)
It will not be the best kind of news for the Premier League clubs who would have liked to see Benatia plying his trade at their club. But it seems he likes it at Udinese and would prefer to develop there rather than in England.
