Antonio Conte is keen to avoid a midfield crises next season as the Blues plan to play in at least four competitions.
The Italian has been left angered by the club’s lack of activity in the transfer market so far and is trying desperately not to lose the core of players who helped him win the Premier League last season.
According to Sun Sport, the Italian has begged former Barcelona and Arsenal star, Cesc Fabregas to remain with the Blues this season, and even went on to promise him more playing time. Per the source, Conte admitted to Fabregas that he should have played him more last season after he was dropped for six consecutive games following a loss to Arsenal.
The Blues have lost Academy product, Nathaniel Chalobah to Watford, and Nemanja Matic has his heart set on a reunion with Jose Mourinho after the Blues completed the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko from AS Monaco, who is expected to line up with compatriot N’Golo Kante when he is fully fit.
Sensing that his other midfield players would be unsettled by the Frenchman’s arrival Conte has reached out to Fabregas to assure him that he is part of his plans for next season.
