Chelsea on high alert after long term target asks to leave

Chelsea’s chance of signing Marco Verratti has been boosted according to reports from Italy. Per the source, the midfielder has asked to leave PSG if the club does not spend big this summer. The French giants were humiliated out of the Champions League by Barcelona and are struggling to retain the League 1 title they have won for the past three seasons.

Verratti wants to win the Champions League and improve his chance of winning the Balon d’or, but does not believe he can achieve that goal in Paris.

Chelsea’s manager Anonio Conte is a long term admirer of the Italian and wants to add him to his midfield. Conte believes he can deliver the Champions League next season if he signs the right players. He also expects Nemanja Matic to be subject of interest from some top teams this season and believes that Verratti can flourish when partnered with N’Golo Kante.

Although Verratti is contracted to PSG until 2021, Chelsea are willing to test PSG’s commitment keeping the midfielder in Paris.

It would be interesting to see if the Parisians would spend to convince him to stay or cash in on him to bolster other areas in their team.
