Newcastle has begun a recruitment drive that would see them bring in some quality players to help them compete in the Premier League next season.
Spanish manager Rafael Benitez had met with club owner Mike Ashley, and committed his future to the club after what was a positive meeting. He has now set his eyes on getting his summer targets.
The first player he is hoping to complete a deal for is on-loan Chelsea Winger Christian Atsu. The Ghanian has been key to leading the Toon army back into the Premier League. He scored some crucial goals towards the end of the season, which helped the club get past Brighton to win the Championship crown.
Chelsea signed Atsu from Fc Porto four years ago, but the Ghanaian has not made a single appearance for them.
Atsu would be ecstatic to join Newcastle, a club that finally gave him a chance to play in England. He had previously gone on loan to Bournemouth and Everton, but both spells turned out to be frustrating for him.
