Chelsea are ready to trigger the release clause of Inter Milan striker, Mauro Icardi.
The Argentinian has been in lethal form this season as he has scored 11 goals in 12 Serie A games including a hat-trick in the Milan derby.
It is believed that Inter Milan would not sell Icardi at any price but the Blues are ready to trigger his release clause rumoured to be £88 million.
Icardi has fallen out with the club’s fans in the past and almost left them during the summer transfer window. He would be receptive to the idea of playing in the Premier League.
The Blues want to retain their Premier League crown, but they have fallen behind Manchester City. They want to add Icardi to their line up so that they can catch up with Guardiola’s men in terms of goals.
Morata has made a good start to life in the Premier League, but injuries and a lack of adequate support from Mitchy Batshuayi mean the Blues need to get into the transfer market again.
