Chelsea has joined Arsenal in wanting to sign Leicester City playmaker Riyad Mahrez, according to the latest report in the British media.
Arsenal remains the frontrunners simply because Leicester city value Mahrez at 50 million pounds and the West London club are said to be unwilling to cough up that amount, whereas Arsenal is reported to be happy to meet that valuation.
The Gunners have been monitoring Mahrez for some time now, however, they may struggle to persuade the Algerian International to join them now that they are no longer in the Champions League.
It does appear that Mahrez would prefer a move to Stamford Bridge, especially following recent comments attributed to him where he said the following when talking about Chelsea:
‘They’re an incredible club. A real club’
It is clearly a tricky situation for all parties involved, Chelsea is refusing to meet Leicester City’s valuation while the 26-year-old would prefer a move to the Blues.
One thing is almost certain and that is that Mahrez will be leaving the Foxes this summer, it is just a question of which club.
