After completing the club record signing of Alvaro Morata, Chelsea is set to follow up their interest in Arsenal’s winger, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain.
The England midfielder is currently on preseason with the Gunners, but has just one year left on his current deal with the Gunners and has rejected the new contract being offered to him.
Arsene Wenger has come out to clearly state that they are not ready to sell the England man yet, and he expects him to remain at the Emirates beyond this transfer window.
However, Chamberlain is attracting the interest of several Premier Leagues sides including Liverpool and Chelsea. While Liverpool may not be too keen on signing him after sealing the transfer of Mohammed Salah, Chelsea needs him as they prepare for life without Nemanja Matic.
The Ox wants to play in central midfield, and Antonio Conte is willing to give him an opportunity there as they ponder on whether to sell Nemanja Matic to Manchester United for £40 million or sell him to Juventus for a fee lower than that.
Chamberlain is willing to remain with the Gunners, but he needs certain assurances and hopes they can further discuss his new deal after preseason.
