Despite still trying to convince Romelu Lukaku to change his mind and join them, Chelsea is set to move for Torino attacker Andrea Belotti.
The Blues are still gutted by the news that Everton has agreed to sell Romelu Lukaku to Man Utd, with their efforts to contact Lukaku and attempt to change his mind proving abortive so far.
Antonio Conte is said to be very disappointed especially after the Belgian had been briefed about how he would be utilised in the Blues lineup next season.
Now they have turned their attention to Belotti. The Italian attacker scored 25 Serie A goals last season, which attracted the attention of several top European teams. He is not Conte’s second choice, but with Real Madrid placing an outrageous price tag on Alvaro Morata, he looks like a possible target for the Blues.
The Blues are also interested in signing Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, but the Gunners would not deal with a title rival let alone a club from the same city.
Conte will return for preseason on Sunday while the rest of his team will join him on Monday at their Cobham base.
