The English media are reporting that Chelsea are very close to sealing a deal for their top summer target, AS Monaco’s midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The Frenchman has been one of the stand out performers in a young Monaco team that has reached the Champions league semi final as well getting close to clinching the French league title.
Antonio Conte expects to see Nemanja Matic ask for a move to Juventus this summer and believes that would pave way for a Bakayoko and N’Golo Kante partnership in the his midfield.
Bakayoko has attracted the interest of several top European sides this season, but Chelsea have been the most serious suitors having kept in touch with the player and his club all through the season.
Local rivals PSG are very interested in signing Bakayoko, but it is the Blues who have the upper hand in the deal. However, Monaco will likely use the interest in the player from other top European sides to drive their asking price up.
The Blues hope to sign the player for a fee in the region of £30 million, and could use one of their youngsters are a bait.
