Chelsea have confirmed Tomas Kalas has signed for Middlesbrough on loan.
The one-cap Czech Republic international, 22, spent part of last season on loan at the Riverside and made 17 appearances for Aitor Karanka’s men.
A statement on the Chelsea website read: “Chelsea Football Club has today agreed terms with Middlesbrough for Tomas Kalas to spend the 2015/16 season on loan at the Championship club.”
Kalas impressed during his first spell at Boro, who agonisingly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.
And he wanted to return to the Championship club if his chances were to be limited at Stamford Bridge.
“I’d already decided at the end of last season that if Chelsea would like to get me on loan again this would be my first choice, so it was easy when I heard I could stay,”
