Chelsea reportedly plotting a summer raid on Torino
Reports from the Italian media is linking Chelsea to Torino full-back Davide Zappacosta, the defender has been watched by the Blues Scout this season, and Antonio Conte is said to be happy with the reports he is getting about the Italian.
Chelsea does not have adequate cover for their full-backs, this was obvious in Chelsea’s loss to Crystal Palace at Stanford Bridge. Victor Moses missed that game through injury and Antonio Conte had to use Pedro in the right wing back position.
The Blues would be competing in at least four competitions next season, and they cannot afford to go into these competitions with a thin squad.
Zappacosta has played in about 24 games this season and has impressed. He is currently negotiating a new deal with the club, but this would not affect Chelsea’s interest. It is believed that the player will not accept an astronomical release clause in his new deal.
Chelsea is planning for the departure of John Terry this summer, and the club believes adding Zappacosta to their roster would cover for the loss of the former England captain.
