Chelsea set to let Man Utd have a free run at signing top class striker

It is being reported that Chelsea has decided not to pursue the signature of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and leave the coast clear for Man Utd.

Apparently the Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte prefers Everton hitman Romelu Lukaku and will instead focus their attention on signing the Belgium star.

Both Chelsea and United have been linked with Morata for some time now, however, the Blues were never as keen as United were on the 24-year-old.

Jose Mourinho gave Morata his debut at Real Madrid and knows the player inside out and now that the opportunity to sign the Spanish international has arisen the chances are that Mourinho will at the very least make an offer.

Morata has found game time at Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane a rare occurrence and has reportedly grown very frustrated at being a bench warmer, he has started just 14 games this season and basically been a bystander as Real won the La Liga title.

It is also probable that Morata would agree to join United even if they miss out on Champions League football.
