Chelsea set to make their first high-profile summer signing

Chelsea’s week is about to get better as they close in on their first major summer signing. The Blues were left devastated after learning that their long-term target, Romelu Lukaku has agreed to join Manchester United for £75 million.

The Blues quickly matched the Red Devil’s bid for the Belgian but refused to pay his agent fee of £12 million. Conte is said to have been gutted by that miss so much so that he is considering his future.

However, there is good news for both the Italian and fans of the club as German international Antonio Rudiger is set to undergo a medical in London ahead of a proposed £34 million move from Roma.

Rudiger starred for Germany at the just concluded Confederations Cup and helped them win the competition. He has been a mainstay in the Roma’s defence since he moved to the Italian capital from Stuttgart.

Conte had wanted Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk and Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci, but with their clubs demanding outrageous fees, the Blues have turned to Rudiger.
