Chelsea is set to bid £70 million for Real Madrid attacker Alvaro Morata. The Spaniard has become the Blues first choice summer attacking target after they missed out on signing Romelu Lukaku.
Morata was Manchester United’s priority recruitment target this summer, but Real Madrid proved impossible to do business with and the Red Devils swiftly turned their attention to Lukaku.
Negotiations between Chelsea and Real Madrid has been going on fine, and the Blues expect to wrap up the signing this week. If both parties continue to trust each other, it is believed that Morata would not be travelling with his team mate for preseason.
Zinedine Zidane is reluctant to lose Morata despite using him as a squad player last season. The French manager sees Morata as the key to winning games against lesser oppositions especially when the top stars have to be rested.
Morata currently earns £100,000 per week, and the Blues are expected to offer him at least a 25% increase on that figure.
