Chelsea is ready to make a formal move for Arsenal midfielder, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain.
The Blues have been watching the midfielder’s situation at the Emirates while trying to complete deals for their other summer targets. Now that they have landed their main target, Alvaro Morata, Antonio Conte has set his sights on completing the signing of the Ox.
The midfielder has just one year left on his current deal with the Gunners but has rejected an offer of a new contract believed to be worth £100,000 per week. Chamberlain wants assurances for playing time as the Gunners continue to look for players in his position.
Chelsea is expected to compete with Manchester City for the midfielder’s signature as Guardiola continues restructuring his City side. The Blue side of Manchester have been spending money ruthlessly in the transfer market so far, and they don’t look like stopping. Pep sees Chamberlain as an exciting English player and wants him to come and as long term replacement to the likes of David Silva who are not getting younger.
Arsenal expects Chamberlain to stay beyond this summer but may soften that stance if he refuses to commit his future.
