Chelsea to hijack rivals move for in-demand ‘Octopus’

Chelsea have entered the race for Porto midfielder Fernando

The 26-year-old is high on Manchester City’s summer wishlist, having missed out on him in January, but they now face stiff competition from their Premier League title rivals.

A source close to the west London outfit has admitted that boss Jose Mourinho is keen to bolster his midfield, with England veteran Frank Lampard already in the twilight of his career, and Fernando has impressed club spies.

The Brazilian was expected to sign a pre-contract agreement and arrive at the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer in June

However, negotiations broke down and he went on to pen a fresh contract, but now the SportsDirectNews website have claimed Chelsea are planning a massive £30 million swoop
