Chelsea to make shock move as Italian giants open door with Twitter announcement

There has been some reports which have revealed Inter Milan have announced on their Twitter page the contract of Romanian defender Cristian Chivu has been cancelled by mutual consent.

The 33-year-old was out of contract at the end of this season and will not be extending his seven-year stay at the San Siro, where he lifted the European Cup under the guidance of Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in 2010.

Blues captain John Terry is yet to pen a fresh deal and might be on his way out of Stamford Bridge in a matter of months, leaving the title hopefuls in need of cover at the heart of their defence.

French youngster Kurt Zouma arrives on a permanent basis in June from St Etienne, but is untried in the Premier League, while Brazilian David Luiz is wanted by European heavyweights Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, and could also depart.

And now Chivu is a free agent, the blues could make a shock move
