Andy Gray has urged Chelsea to seal the deal for Everton star John Stones.
Jose Mourinho boss has already had a £20m bid for Stones, 21, rejected by the Toffees, despite reports the talent is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League champions.
And Gray, 59, believes Stones would be an ideal replacement for John Terry when he calls time on his career.
As quoted on the Sky Sports website, he said: “If you’re losing John Terry in the next year to 18 months and you’re asking me whether he’s a player who would fit in at Chelsea, then 100 per cent. It makes absolute sense.
“He’s British, which helps. He might cost £30m but he can only get better under the right guidance.
“John Stones is good and he could be one of the best. He’s got every quality that you need to be a top centre-back.
“He seems to have a good personality and is good on the football. Maybe he’s just a little bit too elaborate at times for a young boy at centre-back – but that’s more about his confidence than anything else.”
