Atletico Madrid is on the verge of signing Chelsea attacker Diego Costa, but would not loan him out until the end of their transfer ban.
The Spanish giants are currently serving a transfer ban until January 2nd, 2018, which means they cannot register players even if they sign them.
Costa has been informed by Chelsea manager Antonio Conte that he is not part of his plan for next season, and the Brazil-born Spanish international is looking to return to Madrid.
Costa has previously voiced his concern over the need to play as he wants to be in the national team squad that would represent Spain in next year’s World Cup in Russia.
The best option for Costa is to move out on loan so that he would not lack match fitness. But if Atletico insists that he remains with them and keep training, his chances of making it into the World Cup squad would be slim.
Costa is also attracting the interest of several other teams especially clubs in China, who are ready to make him the world’s highest-paid players.
