AS Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko is very close to signing for Chelsea in a £35 million move. According to the media, the France international has had his medical in London, and only a few more details need to be ironed out for the deal to be complete.
Bakayoko would become Chelsea’s first signing of the summer and could be announced within the next 48 hours.
The Frenchman could be joined by Brazilian defender Alex Sandro next week, as the Blues look to finalise the deal for his signature from Juventus.
Sandro would become the world’s most expensive defender if the move is complete for the reported £60 million that Juventus has quoted for the Blues.
Antonio Conte has reportedly told the club that he wants his summer targets by the time he resumes for preseason in July and this has made the club’s board to begin acting fast.
Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci remains a top target, but his age and Juventus’ reluctance to discuss his transfer remain major obstacles to the deal. Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk is an alternative should the Blues fail to land Bonucci, while a deal for Everton’s Romelu Lukaku is also imminent.
