As the transfer window closes in, several top European teams have begun plans to improve their squad. Among them are Premiership Champions elect Chelsea.
The Blues have reportedly kept a close watch on some of the best players in Europe this season, among them RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita, and AS Roma Greek defender Kostas Manolas.
The Greek defender has been one of the best players at Roma this season, and his outstanding performances is one of the reasons Roma have pushed Juventus all the way in the race to win the Italian Scudetto.
According to reports, Chelsea have increased their scouting of the defender in recent weeks, and are believed to be very close to making an official bid for the player.
Chelsea are looking to bolster their squad ahead of a return to the UEFA Champions League next season.
The Blues will be without long serving defender John Terry, who is due to retire at the end of the season, and Antonio Conte believes Manolas can replace the former England captain.
Manolas still has two years to run on his current Roma deal, and would cost the Blues a figure in the region of £25 million.
