The representative of Napoli defender, Kalidou Koulibaly has lifted the lid on how close his client came to signing for Chelsea last season
Antonio Conte was reportedly close to signing Kalidou Koulibaly last season, and was rumoured to be prepared to sign the player for about £60 million, however, the deal never went through and Chelsea signed David Luiz instead.
According to his agent, Chelsea actively pursued his client’s signature, but later settled for the re-signing of Luiz who was available at a cheaper rate.
According to him, they are open to an approach from the Blues in the future, but he highlighted the fact that there is so much competition for his client’s place in the current Blues team.
The Blues would be in the market for a central defender again this summer as they look for a replacement for John Terry, Antonio Conte might just go back for the Senegalese.
