Chelsea are set to offer a new deal to their first choice keeper Thibaut Courtois, in a bid to keep his mind away from a move to Real Madrid.
The big Belgian has been on the radar of some of Europe’s top teams, with Real Madrid credited with the strongest interest.
However, the interest from Real Madrid has cooled off recently and the Spanish giants have prioritized a move for Manchester United’s David De Gea.
The Blues are now ready to offer him a new deal that would extend his stay in Stamford Bridge beyond the summer of 2019.
The Belgian currently earns around £120,00 per week, but the new deal would offer him close to £200,000 per week.
In a related development, the Blues are determined to hold on to their young Danish defender, Andreas Christensen.
The centre back has been on loan at Borrussia Monchengladbach for the past two seasons, and has impressed both domestically and in Europe. Gladbach wants to sign him on a permanent basis after his current loan deal expires.
However, Chelsea wants to keep the player, and believe he can develop into a finished product at Stamford Bridge.
