Even though the transfer market has characteristically become inflated this summer, and Chelsea has even paid inflated fees for some of their summer targets, the Blues are in no mood to pay more than they should for Leicester City midfielder, Danny Drinkwater.
The Blues became linked to the England midfielder this summer after a fruitless pursuit of his signature last summer, but they will not pay more than £30 million.
Chelsea signed his former midfield partner N’Golo Kante for £32 million last summer and could have signed Drinkwater for £25 million, but Leicester wants more for the former Manchester United man now.
Drinkwater signed a new four years deal with Leicester last summer, and the Foxes are in no mood to allow him to leave. But should he ask to leave, they want £35 million.
Chelsea has allowed Nemanja Matic and Nathaniel Chalobah to leave for regular first team football as Antonio Conte refuses to stop players from leaving. These departures have left the Blues squad very thin, with many fans fearing they would find it hard to make a good impression this season.
