Clause holding up big deal as Man United offer £200,000-a-week contract

Manchester United’s hopes of persuading David De Gea to sign a new contract could hinge on them slashing their proposed £50million buy-out clause, according to the Daily Mirror website.

De Gea is nearing the final year of his current deal and fears are growing at Old Trafford that he will make himself a free agent in the summer of 2017.

That would open the door for Real Madrid to nail down his services, as they are very keen on getting a deal done.

However, United have offered the 24-year-old a £200,000 a week basic wage deal and agreed to include a release clause.
