Crystal Palace has agreed to a deal with Manchester City over the transfer of French centre back, Eliaquim Mangala.
The Eagles have been looking for reinforcements in defence after conceding more than 5 goals in their opening three league matches.
Mangala has been a target for West Brom and they asked Manchester City to include the Frenchman in any deal that would see Jonny Evans head the other way. However, this transfer has now thrown Evans’ move into a major doubt unless the Baggies can get an adequate replacement for the Irishman he may remain at the Hawthorns.
Palace had wanted Liverpool’s Mahmadou Sakho, but the French man has three years to run on his current Liverpool contract and the Reds are asking for £30 million. The Eagles bid £25 million for Sakho this week, but Liverpool to them it was all of £30 million or nothing.
Palace has signed Mangala for £18 million plus £5 million add-ons.
