Las Palmas defender Mauricio Lemos, has emerged as a surprise target for Everton. The blues are said to be in a competition with top La Liga sides for the signature of the Uruguayan.
The 21 year old who joined from Rubin Kazan for less than £2m last summer, is set to fetch the La Liga campaigners huge profit.
Lemos has been capped by Uruguay at Under 23 level and came close to joining Barcelona last season before making a permanent switch to Las Palmas.
If Everton hope to sign the South American, they would have come up with a serious offer, because the defender has a £26m release clause written into his contract.
Meanwhile, Everton have also are interested in Barcelona youngster, Marc Cucurella. The left sided defender is attracting the interest of Tottenham and Everton after it was revealed that his contract expires this summer.
Barcelona are keen to tie the 18 year old to a new contract, though the player is yet to commit to the club and may leave when the transfer window opens.
