It’s always good for new young signings to receive early praise from their gaffers, so when a player like David Unsworth praises you after a few games for your new club, the honour should be felt and in new Evertonian signing South America’s ‘Urugayan’ striker Leandro Rodriguez, Unsworth feels they have unearthed a real gem in the young forward.
After a fantastic performance by Leandro for the Everton U21’s last night in which he scored in a Lancashire Seniors Cup match against Preston North End, David Unsworth spoke about Rodriguez and his start to his new career with Everton:
“I thought Leandro did great,” Unsworth told evertontv. “He’s a very intelligent player and you could see that with some of the positions he got into.
“He got his goal which was great and that settled him down. I thought he made some intelligent runs all night and could have possibly had a couple more goals.
“It was great that he got 90 minutes under his belt and that will do him the world of good.
“We are delighted with him, he’s been a great addition and he looks a player.”
He certainly does appear to be a good prospect for Everton, and if they can keep hold of him for a fair few seasons I think he can be a player to certainly watch out for in the future, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as a big name for the Evertonians as time goes by.
