Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has played down talks of a summer move to Barcelona by insisting he is looking forward to hearing Jose Mourinho’s plans for him.

Speculation surrounding Torres refuses to go away, with Chelsea’s interest in a new striker seemingly leading many people to presume that the Spaniard will not be in Mourinho’s plans.

Mourinho has even admitted in recent days that Torres’s form for Chelsea had been ‘so-so’ but the striker is ready for talks.

“I look forward to talking with Mourinho and to know what plans he has for me,” Torres, who is with the Spain squad at the Confederations Cup, told Onda Cero.

“The first thing I am aware of is he will expect much more from me, I expect more from me. Now I have pressure Mourinho adds and that’s a challenge for a player.” (Sky Sports)

Torres had a good season last year and is surely starting to find his feet again, but with all the talk of Edinson Cavani or Robert Lewandowski showing up at Stamford Bridge, the Spanish star may find himself surplus-to-requirements.

There has been some reports on the TalkSport website which have claimed Liverpool and Tottenham will battle it out for the signature of Sochaux midfielder Ryad Boudebouz.

The Algerian international has enjoyed a fine season in France and has been attracting interest from all over Europe.

Bayer Leverkusen and Rubin Kazan are both considering making offers for the 23-year-old attacking midfielder.

But the two Premier League giants are interested in Boudebouz and could make a bid for a player whose contract expires at the end of next season. (TalkSport)

Both sides need to strengthen in the summer as they look to get back into the Champions League, but there are question to whether Boudebouz will actually add the right quality to their respective squads.

Wigan boss Owen Coyle will try to make Manchester United youngster Nick Powell his first signing in the summer window.

The 19-year-old midfielder has now recovered from an operation that cut short his debut season and TalkSport understands new United boss David Moyes will assess Powell during pre-season and then make a decision on his short-term future.

Powell made just six appearances for the Reds last season, and scored his only goal for United against Wigan in the Premier League. (TalkSport)

The lad needs some game time to develop and although he would be dropping down a level, a loan move for a year or two may be the best thing for him.

There has been some reports on the Daily Mirror website which have revealed Spanish giants Real Madrid have reserved the number 11 shirt for Tottenham winger Gareth Bale.

In tactics similar to those that saw them land another Tottenham star, Luka Modric, last summer, the Spanish giants are already describing Bale as ‘The Eleventh Galactico’.

Real’s No.11 shirt is free, as it was worn last season by ex-Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho, who recently completed a transfer to Monaco.

Newspaper Marca – well known as a Real Madrid mouthpiece – has claimed that “the soap opera for Bale has only just begun” and that the Bernabeu club is “prepared to wait for him as long as it takes, even to the end of the transfer window” (Daily Mirror)

Spurs would have to lose Bale, but £85 million is a lot of money to turn down and they will surely cash in on their prized asset?

There has been some reports on the Daily Express website which have revealed Arsenal target and Marseille star Andre Ayew wants a move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window.

“The English league, it would be a dream,” Ayew told TF1.

“This is the follow-up in Ghana and more I am speaking. Yes, I have a big preference for England.” (Daily Express)

The 23-year-old would only set the Gunners back £5 million and could be a bargain at that price if boss Arsene Wenger decides to make a move like many expect him too.

However, there is interest from Liverpool and Manchester United so the Gunners will not have it all their own way in their pursuit of the speedy winger.

Powerhouse striker Andy Carroll has reportedly already texted West Ham players to say that he will be joining up with them on a permanent basis this summer.

The England striker, a hit on loan from Liverpool in the last campaign, had a medical on Tuesday night with a view to completing a £15.5m move – a fee which could rise to £17.5m with add-ons – to the Hammers on a six-year contract.

Co-owner David Gold tweeted: “We managed to bring Andy’s medical forward to this evening and I am delighted to inform you that he has passed with flying colours.” (Daily Mirror)

Premier League Champions Manchester United will not be seeing the arrival of Juventus playmaker Claudio Marchisio in the summer, as Juventus do not want to sell their prized asset.

Juventus director general Beppe Marotta has denied that the Serie A club will allow the 27-year-old to leave this summer, claiming he is an important player for the Turin outfit.

Marchisio is currently away on international duty at the Confederations Cup, where he admitted he was proud to be linked with the likes of Manchester United and Monaco.

However, Marotta has squashed speculation that the one-club man could leave the Old Lady, telling Italian website calciomercato.com: “Juventus have never thought about selling Marchisio. Not now, not ever.” (Daily Express)

United will need to add a world-class playmaker to the squad in the summer and they will surely be disappointed to hear that Marchisio is going nowhere.

Liverpool and Tottenham have reportedly been handed a boost in their pursuit of Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen this coming summer transfer window

Reports have surfaced in recently that Eriksen is destined for a move to Borussia Dortmund, as they seek to fill the void left behind by Mario Gotze.

Though Spurs and Liverpool may not be able to offer the riches of Champions League football, Eriksen hasn’t hidden his desire to play at a higher level.

And it seems they are still firmly in frame for him, following Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc’s concession that no deal has been agreed for Eriksen.

“I have read [the Eriksen rumours] with amazement,” Zorc told Dortmund paper Ruhr Nachrichten. (Daily Express)

The lad is brilliantly gifted and could be a real star for either club, so it will be very interesting to see how all this plays out in the coming months.
