In their bid to avoid losing all of their star players, AS Monaco have put their foot down on the transfer of two Premier League’s targets.
According to online reports, the French Champions have told Arsenal and Manchester City that they would not allow Benjamin Mendy and Thomas Lemar move this summer.
The Municipal club are wary of losing most of their star players as this may see them have a disastrous title defence next season.
They have already sold Bernardo Silva to Manchester City and are on the verge to losing Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea, and expect Kylian Mbappe to move for a club record fee later in the summer.
This would be a major blow to the English duo. Arsene Wenger is rebuilding his Arsenal side after failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League and has planned his new team including Lemar. The midfielder’s versatility offers the Gunners the opportunity to switch tactics.
Pep Guardiola has allowed Gael Clichy, and Pablo Zabaleta to leave the Etihad and wants Mendy to come in as a replacement for Clichy. Mendy’s age makes him the ideal player for the Spaniard.
