Arsenal fans can now relax knowing that star attacker Olivier Giroud will not be leaving them anytime soon after Marseille drop their interest in the France international.
Giroud’s future had been thrown into further doubt this summer following the arrival of fellow Frenchman, Alexandre Lacazette, but Giroud remains a fans favourite and they wanted him to stay.
Giroud did little to show that he would remain often telling journalists that he is open to whatever the future brings. He however, always pointed to the fact that he was not going to shy away from a fight and was relishing the competition.
Giroud was used as a backup striker last season as Arsene Wenger opted for the faster options of Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez. However, the Frenchman scored some very important goals when he came on as a second half substitute, including an equaliser against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Marseille manager, Rudi Garcia has come out to say they are no longer actively pursuing a deal for the attacker. He described signing the attacker as a dream, but that would no longer be possible.
West Ham was also interested in Giroud, but they have since signed former Manchester United attacker Javier Hernandez, while he is not keen on joining Everton who is also interested in signing him.
