Frenchman claims in-demand star ‘needs’ big Chelsea move as Mourinho keen on five-year deal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has claimed Raphael Varane may need a move to Chelsea to fulfil his potential for France.

Varane is one of the most talented young defenders in Europe but is behind Sergio Ramos and Pepe in the Real Madrid pecking order.

And Wenger believes a move could benefit the player if it results in more regular playing time.

He told beIN Sports: “If he doesn’t get injured, Varane will be France’s No.1 defender at Euro 2016. “He is still young, though, and he needs to play regularly at Real Madrid. “At his age, he still makes mistakes that could cost the team goals.”
