Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer believes Marco Reus will join Manchester United if the German giants fail in their own attempt.
The 25-year-old was recently named as Dortmund’s vice-captain by boss Jurgen Klopp in attempt to keep him at the club.
But Beckenbauer believes Reus could be set to join, Bayern, United or Spanish side Real Madrid this summer.
As quoted on the Daily Star website, he said: “I can imagine him at Bayern very well.
“If you can get a player of his class, you need to try it.
“If he doesn’t go to Bayern in 2015, he will probably go to another big club like Real Madrid or Manchester United.
Dortmund will probably not be able to hold on to him. I can understand why Dortmund don’t like discussions about Reus.”
Bayern been heavily linked with Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus and could look to swoop after losing Javi Martinez to a knee injury.
“We need a new player,” Pep Guardiola revealed.
“There are many candidates but only a few who would do for us.”
