As the competition for a starting place intensifies at the Emirates, one of Arsenal’s top attackers may be on his way out of the club this summer.
French attacker Olivier Giroud is attracting the interest of German Cup holders Borussia Dortmund, as he looks to end his Arsenal nightmare.
Despite scoring some of the most important goals for the Gunners last season, Giroud was still unable to nail down a starting spot in the Gunners line-up, with Arsene Wenger preferring to use the faster duo of Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez. With the signing of French attacker Alexandre Lacazette this summer, the competition for a starting place has obviously increased.
The British media is now reporting that Borussia Dortmund has opened talks with the Gunners over the transfer of the Frenchman, who has also attracted the interest of West Ham, Everton, Olympique Lyon and Olympique Marseille.
When quizzed about his future last week, Giroud refused to rule out moving away from the Emirates Stadium where he has played for the last five years. He insisted that nothing was guaranteed just like his starting position at Arsenal.
