The Liverpool future of Emre Can looks to be coming to an end if the comments of former German international Oliver Bierhoff are anything to go by.
Bierhoff, the business manager of the German national team, is of the opinion that Can is between 60% and 80% likely to be joining Italian giants Juventus in the January transfer window.
Can is out of contract in the summer and will become a free agent then, however, there is a good chance that Juve will make their move in January to avoid losing out next year.
The 23-year-old is very unlikely to be signing an extension and clubs will be manoeuvring to sign him and the comments from Bierhoff do carry some weight because of his role with the German national team.
Juventus are also interested in Can’s international teammate Leon Goretzka and Bierhoff, speaking with Tuttosport, had this to say.
“We’re talking about two important players.
“They’ll have so many options for the future, they’ll be personal choices. At the moment England is the top for a player, and after that there’s the lure of the powerful Spanish clubs.
“Emre Can and Goretzka would definitely be successful in Serie A too. Unless Inter return to the top though, if one of these players were to choose Italy now it would only be for Juventus.
“There’s not much chance for Goretzka, maybe only 20 per cent. I think there’s a lot more for Emre Can, I’d say 60-80 per cent.”
