Arsenal have been dealt a major blow in their bid to sign AS Monaco attacker Kylian Mbappe.
The teenager is the hottest French prospect in the world right now and has interest from several top European sides including Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Arsenal is among the less fancied sides to sign the teenager, but they went ahead and tabled a bid believed to be in the region of £87 million, which was promptly rejected by Monaco.
The French champions are desperate to keep hold of the 18-year-old, as they believe he needs to continue his development for at least one more season with them in other for him to be ready to play in other top European leagues.
Mbappe has not made a decision about his future, and many people that are close to him believe that he wants to continue his development in Monaco, However, his former teammate and Manchester City’s new signing Bernardo Silva told the media that the attacker has not yet made up his mind on his next career move.
The Gunners were hoping to sign him, to make a statement to contract rebels, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil that they are ready to compete with Europe’s elites, Arsene Wenger will now turn his attention to his other targets.
