Brazilian left-back Felipe Luis admits he is thrilled to be joining Chelsea.
The 28-year-old left-back will link up with the Blues once personal terms are agreed after Jose Mourinho met the £20million release clause in his contract.
Luis’ arrival could see Cesar Azpilicueta reverted to his preferred position on the right, leaving Branislav Ivanovic to battle it out with Gary Cahill for a place alongside John Terry in the heart of defence.
And he has admitted he is delighted to be linking up with a top club like Chelsea.
As quoted on the Daily Mail website, he said: “I never thought about leaving Atletico.
“But I took the decision because of the offer which came from Chelsea.
“A change of team gives new hunger and ambition, and I was worried about being too comfortable here.
“A footballer’s career is very short and I want to finish it in a strong and spectacular way.
“I have always liked Chelsea a lot. I watch a lot of the Premier League and it is a club where you can feel the warmth of the fans.
“When we played there in the Champions League I felt comfortable in their stadium and when the offer came I thought it was the ideal team for me to play for in England.”
