Manchester United target Dries Merten is reportedly in talks with Inter Milan over a move to the Italian capital.
Napoli midfielder Mertens, has been in inspiring form this season, and has scored 28 goals in 40 games. The Belgian is enjoying one of his best seasons as a professional.

United had reportedly started talks with Napoli last week over the transfer of the player as they hope to show Zlatan Ibrahimovic that they are willing to sign big players.

But Italian reports now claim that Inter Milan have acted faster. Per the source, the club has sent Javier Zanetti to Naples to try and negotiate a deal with the player ahead of an official bid.

Napoli want to keep Mertens but can only afford a new salary worth £2.6 Million per year, but the attacker wants more and has decided to keep his options open.

United can more than double the salary being offered by Napoli and hope the player is not concerned about the English culture.
