AC Milan are reportedly set to offer Chelsea target Giacomo Bonaventura, a new contract in an attempt to thwart a potential bid from the Premier League leaders.
Bonaventura has played an integral part in Milan’s progress to third in the table and has been one of their stand out players this season.
The 27 year old has been monitored by the Blues and Antonio Conte is said to be keen on signing the midfielder.
Milan are fully aware of the interest from Chelsea and have taken the decision to offer the player a contract extension before the West London side make any sort of offer.
As things stand at the moment, Bonaventura is paid just £16,000 a week, a figure that his agent expects to be at least doubled by the Italian giants.
However, that may not be enough, Chelsea could easily offer more than that, in fact, if it came down to a battle who would pay the higher wage, then Chelsea would win hands down.
