Manchester United and Tottenham have faced a major hurdle in their pursuit of one of the summer targets.
The media in Italy are reporting that Juventus have moved ahead of the Premier League duo to sign Bayern Munich Brazilian winger Douglas Costa.
The winger is another player who has been reduced to a bit-part role at the Allianz Arena this season.
Costa was accused of trying to influence the club into offering him a more lucrative deal earlier on in the season, and although he was not offered a new deal, his role at the club has significantly reduced which has made top European sides confident of sealing a move for him.
Tottenham were early favourites to sign the player, and Mauricio Pochettino continues to experience frustration in his pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha. The Argentine believes that Costa’s experience in the Champions League would also give his Spurs team an edge as they return to Europe’s elite competition next season.
Jose Mourinho has also entered the fray for the Brazilian as he has only England’s Jesse Lingard as his natural winger. With the Red Devils back in the Champions League, the Portuguese wants to strengthen his squad ahead of the challenge and believes Costa would be a very good addition.
